Program Overview
Students completing a STEM Pathway have the opportunity to earn college credit through College in the High School classes. Students can also earn advanced placement credit through AP testing. STEM students are required to complete a senior capstone research project and participate in the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair and the Central Sound Science and Engineering Fair. This requires extensive research, leadership, organization, professionalism, and teamwork. This work is an excellent experience to promote as they begin college applications and future planning. Students also have the opportunity to be members or compete in several Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO clubs). These extracurricular activities offer connection, teamwork, leadership, community involvement, and a choice for competitive events, from regional to national levels. This year we had several regional and state competitors as well as national qualifiers in our CTSO competitions! Finally, students have shown excellence in their depth areas and many students receive acceptance into their first choice schools.
